L’incorporation de nanoparticules dans des matrices polymériques est couramment utilisée pour améliorer les propriétés des matériaux (mécaniques, thermiques, optiques, électriques, de transfert…). Ces dernières sont fortement dépendantes de la microstructure développée au sein du matériau. Alors que la fraction volumique et la taille des particules sont déterminées par la formulation, la dispersion est plus difficile à contrôler. Dans cet exposé nous nous intéresserons à des nanocomposites modèles formulés à partir de solutions colloïdales de silice et de nanolatex d’acrylates qui permettent d’obtenir des nanocomposites aux dispersions de particules variées en utilisant différents paramètres : la charge de surface des nanoparticules, le rapport de taille entre les particules de latex et de silice (R), et la masse molaire des chaînes de polymères. Nous montrerons que des agrégats répulsifs de taille variable peuvent être obtenus en jouant sur le pH. Une bonne dispersion des particules est obtenue pour des tailles comparables de particules de polymère et de silice, alors qu’un réseau de particules de silice décorant les particules de latex est mis en évidence lorsque le rapport R est grand. Enfin, en diminuant la masse molaire de la matrice, des agrégats fractals de taille croissante sont générés grâce à la mobilité accrue des particules au sein de matrice polymérique de plus faible viscosité2. L’ensemble des dispersions de silice a été étudié par la combinaison de techniques de diffusion aux petits angles (SAXS) réalisées sur des grands instruments (pour la large gamme de vecteur d’onde disponible) et de microscopie électronique à transmission (TEM). Nous verrons que pour de faibles fractions volumiques de particules les résultats SAXS et TEM ont pu être quantitativement corrélés par des simulations Monte Carlo d’agrégats polydisperses. Par ailleurs la structure des chaînes de polymère a pu être suivie par des mesures de diffusion de neutrons (SANS) réalisées dans des conditions de contraste moyen nul (en utilisant des latex hydrogénés et deutérés). Nous verrons que la cinétique de dissolution de billes de latex au sein du matériau est impactée par les nanoparticules de silice alors que le rayon de giration des chaînes demeure constant.

Light scattering spectroscopy, mainly developed for Cu(In,Ga)Se2 thin films growth, has been demonstrated to be an efficient in-situ monitoring tool. It consists of illuminating the substrate surface using a light source and collecting the diffused light with a spectrometer. The on-line information allows monitoring the point of stoichiometry of the grown layer. In this work, we propose an alternative approach of this method, replacing the spectrometer by a standard webcam. This system allows to precisely choose the analyzed area on the substrate surface, which may be the whole sample surface or just a specific zone. We have grown CuInSe2 (CIS) thin films by co-evaporation under vacuum using the three-stage process. We have simultaneously performed CIS growth on both Mo-coated and bare glass substrates within the same growth run, while, on purpose, the scattered light was collected from the Mo-coated substrate. The CIS thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, Hall effect measurements, absorption spectroscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy for composition. By interrupting the CIS growth at different stages of the growth process, we have correlated the scattered light features with the Cu-rich/In-rich transitions and we observe the reproducibility of the scattered light spectra structures.

We report on experiments probing the interface between two miscible fluids, an aqueous suspension of submicron colloidal particles and water. The suspension is confined between two plates and water is injected through a small hole in the top plate. As water is pushed through the more viscous colloidal suspension, the interface between the two fluids is destabilized, forming distinctive patterns similar to those observed for immiscible fluids (see figure below). We show that the interface shape is ruled by an off-equilibrium surface tension and validate quantitatively the one-century-old predictions by Korteweg. These findings open the way to a better understanding of a wealth of phenomena, from crystal nucleation and growth to shaping and forming in material science.

In the $\it{\mbox{type II seesaw}}$ model, if spontaneous violation of the lepton number conservation prevails over that of explicit violation, a rich Higgs sector phenomenology is expected to arise with light scalar states having mixed charged-fermiophobic/neutrinophilic properties. We study the constraints on these light CP-even ($h^0$) and CP-odd ($A^0$) states from LEP exclusion limits, combined with the so far established limits and properties of the $125-126$~GeV ${\cal H}$ boson discovered at the LHC. We show that, apart from a fine-tuned region of the parameter space, masses in the $\sim 44$ to $80$ GeV range escape from the LEP limits if the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs triplet is $\lesssim {\cal O}(10^{-3})$GeV, that is comfortably in the region for 'natural' generation of Majorana neutrino masses within this model. In the lower part of the scalar mass spectrum the decay channels ${\cal H} \to h^0 h^0, A^0 A^0$ lead predominantly to heavy flavor plus missing energy or to totally invisible Higgs decays, mimicking dark matter signatures without a dark matter candidate. Exclusion limits at the percent level of these (semi-)invisible decay channels would be needed, together with stringent bounds on the (doubly-)charged states, to constrain significantly this scenario. We also revisit complementary constraints from ${\cal H} \to \gamma \gamma$ and ${\cal H} \to Z \gamma$ channels on the (doubly)charged scalar sector of the model, pinpointing non-sensitivity regions, and carry out a likeliness study for the theoretically allowed couplings in the scalar potential.
