Dans le domaine des mesures UltraSonores (US) en milieux hostiles, il existe un besoin de sondes acoustiques capables de fonctionner en continu à des températures pouvant atteindre les 700°C. Actuellement, aucune sonde commerciale ne répond à ce besoin. L'objectif du travail se focalise en partie sur la réalisation et la caractérisation d'une partie primordiale de la sonde ultrasonore : la face arrière (dos des sondes ou backing). La réalisation de sondes US dédiées aux mesures non destructives en milieux hostiles impose de trouver des matériaux et des procédés de fabrication et d'assemblage adéquats. Les dos sont généralement réalisés par l'adjonction de poudre métallique dans une matrice de polymère. Cette dernière limite le fonctionnement en température. Une des solutions envisagée est d'utiliser des composites particulaires obtenus à partir de poudres métalliques pressées uni-axialement à chaud. Ce type de matériaux étant intrinsèquement résistant aux températures élevées. Pour établir le protocole de fabrication, on a réalisé la matrice avec de l'étain (pour sa grande ductilité) et les diffuseurs avec des inclusions de tungstène. Nous avons étudié l'influence de la température, de la force de pressage et son temps de maintien, sur la densification et la tenue mécanique de pastilles d'étain pur. Les matériaux composites sont caractérisés par spectroscopie ultrasonore. La fraction volumique et le diamètre des sphères de tungstène permettent de contrôler finement les propriétés acoustiques. La réalisation de dos à partir d'étain a montré la possibilité d'utiliser des composites particulaires métallique comme dos de sondes US dédiées aux mesures à haute température. L'utilisation d'autres métaux comme le nickel permettra d'augmenter la température d'utilisation limitée dans le cadre de l'étain à 230 °C.

Our team is specialized in ultrasonic measurements in hostile environment especially under high temperatures. There is a need for acoustic transducers capable of continuous measurement at temperatures up to 700°C. To improve the performances of acoustic sensors we focus our works on the realisation and characterisation of transducer backings able to operate under very high temperature. Commercially, they are produced by the incorporation of tungsten powder in a plastic matrix, which limits the working temperature. The realisation of ultrasonic transducers for non-destructive measures at high temperatures requires adequate materials, manufacturing and assembly processes. To produce the backings, composites were made using very ductile metals such as tin and tungsten. These composites are manufactured by uniaxial hot pressing. First, we studied the influence of temperature and pressure on the densification of tin pellets. Then, several specimens made of tin/W were made and characterised by measuring the specific weight, speed and attenuation of sound. The acoustic measures were realised by ultrasonic spectroscopy. This test-bench was designed and tested on control samples of PMMA and on standard backings (epoxy / tungsten).

Micro-plasticity and micro-viscoelastic deformation in oxides glasses

Miniaturized total analysis systems are becoming a powerful tool for analytical and bioanalytical applications. Biological and chemical sensors for health and environment demand an adaptable technology [1]. A flexible and low-cost process using good quality material in terms of mechanical and thermal properties is necessary. Hybrid materials mixing organic and inorganic parts, offer the advantages of polymer-like materials and glasses. In this work, microfluidic sensor has been fabricated on a new hybrid organic-inorganic photosensitive material using an accurate and flexible fabrication process based on a pulsed UV laser lithography. The photosensitive material is based on, poly (amic acid) PAA polymer with lower molecular weight, 1,3,5-tris[2-vinyloxy)ethoxy]benzene TVEB as a crosslinking dissolution inhibitor, a VEPTES pre-hydrolysed as an organic-inorganic material, and a PAG as a photoacid generator. A fine positive pattern was fabricated in a 3 μm thick film with … mJ/cm2 of i-line exposure.This work presents the material synthesis, and the characterization of the mechanical and thermal properties. The nanoindentation technique was used to analyze the force required to indent the coating with a diamond tip. At low forces, this technique, based on indentation depth, predicts the hardness and the elastic modulus of the coating, to study the effect of the addition of the mineral part on the mechanical properties of the layer. On the other hand, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) technique was used to study the thermal properties of the new hybrid material as function of inorganic part. These results indicate that the newly prepared photosensitive hybrid materials may have potential applications for microfluidic devices.
