Résumé:

Cellulose aerogels can be prepared via dissolution-coagulation-drying with supercritical CO2 (so-called “Aerocellulose”). They are ultra-light (apparent density 0.05-0.20 g/cm3), with rather high specific surface (200-300 m2/g) and pore sizes distribution ranging from a few tens of nanometers to few microns. In the view of Aerocellulose nanostructuring (for example, to achieve low thermal conductivity), two approaches were taken: i) cellulose chemical cross-linking and ii) preparation of cellulose-silica hybrid aerogels. Compared to pure Aerocellulose the thermal conductivity of such nanostructured Aerocellulose was found to be reduced and specific surface of organic-inorganic hybrids was increased up to 800 m2/g. Structure-properties relationships of these novel materials will be discussed.

Le couplage d'une méthode d'imagerie laser Doppler par holographie hétérodyne à un microscope commercial est proposé. Cette méthode permet d'obtenir, sans étape de calibration préalable, des images Doppler résolues à la fois en norme des vecteurs vitesses qu'en direction, ainsi que des contrastes d'amplitude de la chair ou de la vascularisation du zebrafish.

Metallo-phthalocyanine or metal free molecules are either encapsulated into the hollow core of single-wall carbon nanotubes or non-covalently functionalized at their outer surface in order to elaborate new 1D hybrid systems with tunable opto-electronic properties. The encapsulation efficiency is investigated by Transmission Electron Microscopy and x-ray diffraction. The x-ray diffraction patterns allow evidencing the structural organization of the molecules inside the nanotubes which can be envisaged as a “1D -phase”. The angle between the molecule ring and the nanotubes axis is close to 32° as determined from our calculations. The Raman spectra of the hybrid systems display an important dependence with the excitation energy associated to resonant process on both the inserted molecules and the host nanotubes. Confined molecules display Raman spectra hardly altered with respect to the bulk phase, suggesting a rather weak interaction with the tubes. By contrast, the vibrational properties of the molecules functionalized at the outer surface of tubes display important modifications. We assume a significant curvature of the phthalocyanine induced by the interaction with the tube walls and a change of the central atom position within the molecular ring, in good agreement with our DFT calculations.

The formation of aggregates in simplified industrial styrene–butadiene nanocomposites with silica filler hasbeen studied using a recent model based on a combination of electron microscopy, computer simulations,and small-angle X-ray scattering. The influence of the chain mass (40 to 280 kg/mol, PI < 1.1), which setsthe linear rheology of the samples, was investigated for a low (9.5 vol%) and high (19 vol%) silica volumefraction. 50% of the chains bear a single graftable end-group, and it is shown that the (chain-massdependent) grafting density is the structure-determining parameter. A model unifying all available dataon this system is proposed and used to determine a critical aggregate grafting density. The latter is foundto be closely related to the mushroom-to-brush transition of the grafted layer. To our best knowledge,this is the first comprehensive evidence for the control of the complex nanoparticle aggregate structurein nanocomposites of industrial relevance by the physical parameters of the grafted layer.

Les « bio-aérogels » sont des matériaux de type aérogels issus des polysaccharides, comme par exemple la cellulose ou la pectine et sont appelés Aérocellulose1,2 ou Aéropectine3. Ils sont préparés en plusieurs étapes : dissolution du polymère et gélification puis coagulation et séchage au CO2 supercritique. Ces bio-aérogels ont des propriétés structurales intéressantes comme une très grande porosité (> 90%), de faibles densités de 0.05-0.25 g/cm3 et de grandes surfaces spécifiques 200-300 m²/g ; mais également des propriétés mécaniques prometteuses avec un module d’Young de 10-30 MPa et une déformation plastique jusqu’à 60-70% avant la densification du réseau poreux. L’aérocellulose possède une large distribution de taille de pores, entre quelques dizaines de nanomètres jusqu’à plusieurs microns, ce qui ne permet pas d’atteindre des propriétés thermiques superisolantes (la conductivité thermique d’aerocellulose est autour de 0.030-0.035 W/(m.K)). Pour affiner la distribution de taille de pores, la cellulose dissoute dans le solvant 8%NaOH-eau a été réticulée chimiquement par l’épichlorhydrine. En jouant sur le degré de réticulation, les aérogels de cellulose obtenus sont plus finement nanostructurés et présentent des propriétés thermiques améliorées, avec une conductivité thermique autour de 0.025 W/(m.K). Les propriétés mécaniques de ces nouveaux matériaux sont également renforcées comparées à celles des aérocelluloses non-modifiées. La pectine est un polysaccharide naturel abondant et est un déchet de l’industrie agroalimentaire. L’aérogel de pectine correspondant, l’aéropectine, présente une plus faible conductivité thermique que l’aérocellulose (0.020 W/(m.K)) grâce à sa structure poreuse intrinsèquement plus nanostructurée.

Relaxor ferroelectric perovskites are highly polarizable and can exhibit giant coupling between elastic strain and an applied electric field. Here, we report an in situ extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) study of a PbZn1/3Nb2/3O3 (PZN) single crystal as a function of the electric field. We show that the strong dipoles in the NbO6 octahedra bonds are aligned along the four < 011 > directions close to the orientation of the electric field, while a small reversible polar shift occurs for Zn in the direction of the electric field, i.e., positive or negative. This reversible Zn-O polar shift is proposed to play an important role in both the "easy" switching of the ferroelectric polarization and the giant piezoelectric effect in PZN.
